It’s that time of year where Mother Nature likes to tease us with the promise of nice weather ahead. It appears this week will be just like that if you like warmer temperatures.
We should see a lot of melting this week.
Starting today and lasting much of the week, temperatures should reach as high as 8c come Tuesday and Wednesday and only cooling to 4c by the end of the week when we will see daytime highs drop below freezing, but not a lot. In fact, taking a look ahead at long range forecast models, the arctic cold has retreated back to the North Pole and temperatures appear to be either in the low digits on the plus side to just below freezing for the next three weeks.
That doesn’t mean we won’t see additional snow over the same period, mostly falling as wet snow, Sault Ste. Marie is still expected to see a few more centimeters of the white stuff before it all turns to rain by the third week in March. At this point, April will bring with it plenty of rain showers and double digit highs expected in the first week. Dare we say the worst of the winter weather is behind us? It appears that way. Enjoy!
