Bon Soo 2018

Chilly winds and flurries didn’t stop our dedicated Saultites from taking part in some of Bon Soo’s exciting events this Saturday afternoon.

Over at the Gore Street Block Party, people were warming up with hot chocolate and hot dogs while watching the Big Brothers Big Sisters Gore Street Ball Hockey Tournament, presented by McDougall Energy.

Participants in the tournament did not let a little cold deter them from having a good time for a great cause!

The fundraiser made over $10,000 between sponsorship dollars, donations, and pledges.

Prizes were awarded for the team who won the tournament, but also to the team as well as the individual who raised the most money.

Over at the Machine Shop, children were racing up and down the bum slides and amongst the Algoma Insurance Brokers’ Hay Maze, while parents bustled around keeping warm. Some very dedicated ice sculptors were taking the competition very seriously – chippin’ away at their sculptures for the majority of the afternoon in order to create a winter masterpiece.

Many folks swung by to check out the Heavy Meta dragon art car as it blasted fire in the air to the beat of the tunes, a pretty impressive sight to see.

Plenty of warming stations providing coffee, hot chocolate and snacks, are helping families to have fun and stay toasty and full all day long.
