The Sault Ste. Marie Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) will be hosting a Youth Art Gala on Saturday, February 24, featuring visual art, photography and music by local youth artists between the ages of 14 and 21.
The gala will take place at the Civic Centre between the hours of 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door with proceeds going to support Children’s ARCH. The event is open to all ages.
In addition to art and music, refreshments, hors d’oeuvres and desserts prepared by the hospitality programs at Superior Heights and St. Mary’s College will be served.
“MYAC members have made a tremendous effort to coordinate an interesting gala which I expect will be a great success,” says Mayor Christian Provenzano. “I continue to be impressed with the leadership our youth demonstrate through MYAC and initiatives such as the Youth Art Gala. Our youth have a lot to offer and I encourage everyone in the community to come out and support the gala.”
Council chair, Camille Irwin states, “The council is very excited to be hosting the Youth Gala again for its third year. It really has been a great way to highlight the creative young people in our community, while also bringing together people of all ages in Sault Ste Marie. We invite our community to attend our event for a fun night and a great opportunity to support ARCH paediatric palliative care services, as well as our talented local youth.”
Sponsors of the gala include the Algoma District School Board, Huron Superior Catholic District School Board, Algoma University and the Sault College Students’ Association.
