SSMEDC wins provincial economic development award
The Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation (SSMEDC) took home a provincial award last week. The organization’s Millworks ‐ Centre for Entrepreneurship won the 2017 Collaboration & Partnership Award from the Economic Development Council of Ontario in the Public‐Private Partnership category.
“It’s great to see our community recognized on the provincial stage,” said Dan Hollingsworth, the SSMEDC’s Executive Director of Business Development. “The Millworks ‐ Centre for Entrepreneurship is one of our priority projects, and it’s helping to support innovative small businesses here in Sault Ste. Marie. I thank our funding partners at all levels of government for making this project possible.”
Located in the Machine Shop at 83 Huron Street, the Millworks ‐ Centre for Entrepreneurship features a small business incubator. The site is also home to the SSMEDC’s enterprise services programs and staff.
Since the facility opened in May 2016, a number of companies have utilized the incubator, including: BonZa Global, NorthStar Consulting, Jeronamo Solutions, Possibilities Group, MBR Services, On Focus Now, UMG
Media, B&E Automotive Technologies, and Diverse Computing.
