Local musicians jammed for Sault Ste. Marie Helping Hands at a Dinner, Dance, and Silent Auction hosted at the Grand Gardens Downtown on Saturday night

The goal was to raise funds in order to keep Helping Hands, or as it has become lovingly known ‘The Hub’ up and running.

The organization started as a Facebook community that has grown tremendously to help those in need and make a positive impact in people’s lives.

But in order for Helping Hands to keep running The Hub at 112 Crawford St., with all of its food and services free of charge, they are going to need to raise enough money to keep the operation and housing costs sustainable on their own.

(More information on Helping Hands and Wendy Gutcher can be found here).

That is where events like this one come in.

75 people showed up for some great entertainment and food, MC’d by Katherine MacRae.

Amongst the musicians were Collin Nelson playing harmonica and the saxophone, Pierre Valencourt, Joby McClelland, Wendy Gutcher, and Kevin Haryett on guitar, and Jeff Pennett on drums, with McClelland, Nelson, and the Vaillancourts also on vocals.

Over $2200 were raised that will go directly towards keeping The Hub’s doors opened.
