The Easter Seals telethon officially started at noon today, marking its 35th anniversary in Sault Ste. Marie.
Tune into Shaw Cable 10 until 6pm to celebrate the victories of children and youth with physical disabilities, as well as the challenges that they face on a day to day basis.
You will get to check out this years hosts Shannon Gowans, Tessa Vecchio, Jeff McNiece, Jane Martynuk, Lori Amendola, Ben MacDonald, and Jacob Causley-Wilkins as they interview Easter Seals families who will share their experiences.
It is also an opportunity to recognize and thank key sponsors and donors, as the organization will be accepting cheques from local students while the volunteers run the phone lines, all to raise much needed funds for Easter Seals Kids!
Donate $100 or more to make it to the Joe Maione Wall of Champions to honour the life of Easter Seals dedicated fundraiser, Joe Maione, who passed away in 2017.
Maione contributed over $35,000 to the organization in his life in addition to sports memorabilia in the amount of approximately $20,000, so the Wall of Champions in his name is a way for his legacy of community-mindedness to live on.
All proceeds will go directly towards providing programs and services to these children in order to assist them in achieving greater independence, accessibility, and social integration.
Their services include scholarships to support post-secondary education, 10-day summer camp experiences, assistance for parents including resource information and tools, as well as $3,000 per year per child in order to assist with essential mobility equipment.
Your contribution is needed, so help make a difference today.
“No matter the amount, small or large, every bit counts and every bit helps so call today to donate, and remember that you can donate to Easter Seals anytime, not just during the Telethon,” Co-Chair of the Easter Seals Telethon, Lori Amendola told SaultOnline.
She continued, “The city has always come through for us and we are relying on that again this year.”
Call in to donate 705-254-5437 until 6:00pm.
Remember that you will be able to donate after the show as well!
