  1. If Trump levies a 25% tariff on incoming steel from Canada then Canada should levy a 25% tariff on outgoing steel to the US.
Then the fathead would quickly forget about this egotistical nonsense and get on with making some sensible decisions for a change, hopefully. No need to fight or squabble with the US over it just do the exact same thing.

  2. Terrific speach Ross! Well spoken and a positive and plausible solution to the potential problem. We need to be working with our trade partners to the south not entering into a p’ing contest. The problem isn’t Canadian or even European steel and aluminum. It’s the Chinese, Russian and India’s steel being dumped here and the US.

  3. Trump might be putting a tariff on steel next week. 25% for steel and 10% for aluminum. Wonder what that will do. Biggest reason for decrease in employment in the steel industry is technological advancement in production output. Same number of workers are just not needed in the industry as it did before 1965.

  4. Everyone is CONCERNED but why are governments fine with just sitting by and letting Trump do and say what he wants. LETS GET PROACTIVE and give him a taste of his own medicine…hit him with tariffs.

  5. We are all deeply concerned about the steel industry it is the lifeblood of this ever shrinking town. If the orange baboon oversteps the senate (which he can apparently do) and imposes the crazy tariffs he wants to the Canadian steel industry is in huge trouble, and this city will shrink a lot more and the local mill may be no more, it is already a dicey enough situation whether it will survive or not as is with no one able to come to any kind of agreement. They sure are keeping everyone in Sault Ste. Marie in the dark about it.
