Sault Ice Hawks Captures a Bronze Medal

This past weekend the U12 Provincial Petite Sault Ice Hawks attended the 2018 Provincial Ringette Championships Tournament in Waterloo and skated home with the Bronze medal! The team was made-up of 12 dedicated and talented Sault girls (10 and 11 year olds).

Competing in a division of 6 tough teams, the Ice Hawks were seeded second through the round robin portion of the tournament with a record of 3 – 1 – 1. After conceding the first game to a rough and tumble Timmins team, the eventual gold medal team, the Ice Hawks pushed through the remaining round robin games winning 3 and tying one. The Hawks rode tough team defence and goaltending through the weekend, giving up an average of only 1.5 goals per game over the final 4 round robin games. The semi-final game saw the Sault square off against Newmarket in a close game where the Ice Hawks fell 3-2.

Ringette is a fast-paced, physical sport played mainly by women and girls of all ages. The Sault Ringette Club, established more than 30 years ago, provides instructional and competitive opportunities for all ages from 4 and up.
