The Twin Saults #TakeThePlunge for the Special Olympics!

polar plunge

Participants, law enforcement officers, and Special Olympics supporters joined forces today from both sides of the border to raise funds for the Special Olympics taking place in both Ontario and Michigan.

The event took place at the Elk’s Lodge in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan, and I had the exciting opportunity to represent SaultOnline and #TakeThePlunge! Big thank you to OPP Sargent Monique Baker and SSM City Police Officer Shawn Beaulieu for setting us up to take part in this winter fun!

Overall, the event had just over 75 participants, an almost even amount from Sault Michigan and Sault Ontario. This was the third annual combined event whereby any money that came in from Canada went back to the Ontario Special Olympics, and any donations from U.S participants stayed in Michigan, making it a truly shared event supporting the same cause.

This worthy cause raised an estimated $15,000 between pledges, donations, sponsorships, and silent auction totals.
