Two Arrested For Armed Robbery With a Syringe

On March 5th, 2018 officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Break and Enter Unit arrested 34 year old William McDonald of Wallace Terrace for robbery and 34 year old Rosemary Pheasant of Hughes Street for possession of stolen property.

It is alleged that on February 21st, 2018 Mr. McDonald attended a business in the 600 block of Wellington Street where he entered with a syringe in his hand.  The accused threatened the employee with the needle and then took cash and other merchandise from the store before leaving.  A short time later, Rosemary Pheasant was found to be in possession of items that had been taken during this robbery.

Later on the same day, Mr. McDonald attended a business in the 200 block of Bay Street where he selected just under $100 worth of merchandise and attempted to leave without paying.  When the accused was approached by a staff member he pulled a syringe out and threatened the staff member with it before fleeing the area.

Officers located Mr. McDonald and Ms. Pheasant on March 5th, 2018 and they were taken into custody.  Ms. Pheasant has been charged with 2 counts of possession of stolen property.  She will appear in court on April 9th, 2018.  Mr. McDonald has been charged with 2 counts of robbery, one count of wearing a disguise with intent and 2 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  He was held for bail court.

  1. Do they need a new ‘Shoemaker park’ to help them kick the needle habit? Just a couple of years ago he was trying to get the city to sell off parks and not create any new ones. Now that election time is coming all of a sudden he wants new parks. Certainly not the answer to help drug addicts, they need rehabilitation and a place to get it, not a new park to go shoot up in.
