Exclusive behind the scenes with ‘9-5: The Musical’ cast and crew (5 photos)

The Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie is proud to present ‘9-5: The Musical!’

SaultOnline got a sneak peek into the dress rehearsal to spend some time with the hardworking cast and crew, who are gearing up for opening night on April 12th.

The hustle and bustle backstage was a whirlwind of colours, props of all shapes and sizes, accompanied by delightful music, hurried footsteps, and hushed voices practicing lines.

The show, based in the 1970s, revolves around the downtrodden working lives of Violet, Judy, and Doralee, working women from different backgrounds who are bonded together by their hatred of their boss.

Their boss, Franklin Hart, is a sexist, arrogant man who the women are determined to bring down, in an effort to build a better future for employees – particularly women.

Ensemble member Jared Vecchio tells SaultOnline that this show has been “a wild ride, with a lot of choreography and a lot of quick changes.”

He has at least six changes, including getting into a chipmunk costume!

But he is a seasoned community theatre actor, having been in fifteen shows.

That is part of what makes this show, directed by Lucas Beaver, musical direction by Rony Dal Cin – with cast and crew ranging in age and experience, the dynamic is unique and energetic.

The cast features John Dedes, Darla Pirillo, Kara Colynuk, Olivia O’Shea, Mike Poluk, and Donna Hilsinger.

The show will run April 12th, 13th, and 14th at 8:00pm, and April 15th at 2:00pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office in the Station Mall, by phone at 705-945-7299, or online here.Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" The Musical
