The 2018 Sustain Algoma Expo is taking place this Saturday, June 2nd, at the Johnson Township Community Centre in Desbarats from 9:00am until 2:00pm. Admission to this event is free, but donations will be accepted.
This family fun event promotes living sustainably in Algoma. The event will feature unique initiatives and products that include food & agriculture, wood products, water management, social enterprise, arts & culture and more from over 30 exhibitors.
There will plenty of fun activities for children. Entomica will once again be there with their collection of exotic bugs. Clean North will have their composting worms to dig through. The Healthy Kids Community Challenge will have a variety of activities, including building a planter and planting plants. Smokey the Bear will be at the MNRF booth, Nottingham North will have their archery targets set up and there will be free face painting!
In addition to booths set up by companies and organizations, there will be a breakfast buffet from 9:00am until 12:00pm with proceeds going towards the Johnson Township Recreation.
The first Johnson Farmers’ Market of the year is taking place on site as well. Come get some local fruits, veggies and other food products!
The expo is put on by The Kensington Conservancy, St. Mary’s River Remedial Action Plan, Invasive Species Centre, Clean North, Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition and Johnson Farmers’ Market.
