The Hounds played a good game early on but the shots wouldn’t confirm it. The Hounds were badly outshot (18-7) early on but thanks to Matty we were able to sneak out of the first with a 1-1 tie. Mr Valallta made at least three Grade A saves and one on a breakaway that game in check. Matty was given the First Star and he definitely deserved it.

The Hounds had the puck possession working but didn’t find the net as easily as in the regular season. The Hounds did capitalize on the Powerplay on two occasions and Coach Bannister confirmed during the post-game press conference that that was key.

Matty, for the record, confirmed he felt he played his best game of playoffs and challenged himself after losing in O/T on Thursday.

The Hounds were ignited by Morgan Frost (2) Barrett Hayton, and Jack Kopacka.

Replying for Bulldogs were Saigon and Entwistle.

Hounds take game 2 with a 4-2 score.

Game three goes to Hamilton on Monday at the First Ontario Centre.
