Michele McCleave-Kennedy reacts to recent endorsements

The NDP Party may not have gotten an endorsement from USW Local 2251 this year, but, as of Friday, they are now being endorsed by both the Sault Ste. Marie and District Labour Council and the Union Executive of United Steelworkers Local 9548.

“Community leadership is one of the goals of this council. We believe Michele can further contribute to the labour movement by being our voice at Queen’s Park,” said Labour Council acting president Lisa Dale in the endorsement.

Cody Alexander, president of USW Local 9548 echoed these sentiments in his local’s endorsement.

“Michele bestows the values of true social responsibility, true community leadership, and has been relentless in protecting workers rights,” said Alexander. “She is a person of extraordinary integrity and has always been a strong and commanding voice, acting and advocating selflessly on behalf of the community and Organized Labour.”

McCleave-Kennedy said she is honoured to receive the backing of two groups that represent so many of Sault Ste. Marie’s workers.

“I’ve always worked hard for our community and its workers, so I’m grateful to the local Labour Council and USW Local 9548 for their support. I’m honoured by their recognition that I will continue to be a strong voice for Sault Ste. Marie and its workers as MPP.”

  1. big for unions if they get to reduce costs on free dental but it wont happen the money for another government run office just isn t there so pray legal weed goes over to fund all the promises

  2. Folks, the executive of any union can endorse whomever they want, but the individual members go into that booth and can vote for whoever they decide is best for them. The majority of these members are middle class workers, most with families and many starting out hoping to have a long career with families of their own. Buy, what wynne’s libs have done to this province and what horwath will continue to do, if elected, borders on insanity. Folks, the $350 BILLION debt and extra Billions that horwath would add to it, will end up on the backs of these folks who will end up with another huge mortgage on top of the one they signed up for. The DEBT of each and every Canadian, created by the federal & provincial liberals is about $50,000 per Canadian. What do you think it would be after horwath is done with your tax bill ??? Be weary, folks, it’s not going to be pretty. Please cast your vote on June 7.

  3. Endorsement schmorsement. Give it up. There is only one party worthy of being elected and it may not have the most popular leader at the moment, but they are the best overall. Vote PC folks, you won’t regret it.
