At their meeting last night, city councilors lifted the holding provision so SIS Group go start planning for a new train station at the old St. Mary’s Paper site.
Along with the train, the company is planning a skating rink and room for community events.
SIS is owned by Tony Porco and leads a group that runs the Machine Shop.
Councillor Frank Fata asked Orland Rosa, Porco’s representative, if their train station would be a new spot for the Agawa Canyon Tour Train station but Rosa wouldn’t elaborate.
Rosa said: “I can only tell you that there are confidential negotiations that are ongoing between the owner of the property and the railway in regards to relocation.”
