Hounds to play Spirit in Opening Game of the Season

On Monday afternoon, the Soo Greyhounds announced their opening game for the 2018-2019 regular season.

The defending Western Conference champions will open up their 2018-2019 regular season on Wednesday, September 19th at 7:05 p.m. in a road game against the Saginaw Spirit at the Dow Event Center.

The last time the Hounds opened up their regular season against the Saginaw Spirit, was back on Wednesday, September 19th, 2007, when they defeated the Spirit by a score of 7-5 at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw.

That game, forwards Matt Lyall and James Livingston led the way with three points each for the Hounds victory.

The Hounds will then have their home opener on Friday, September 21st at 7:07 p.m. against the Sarnia Sting in their home opener at the Essar Centre, which will then be renamed the GFL Memorial Gardens.

The last time the Hounds had their home opener against the Sarnia Sting, was back on Friday, September 26th, 2014, when they defeated the Sting 7-3 at the Essar Centre.

That game, forwards  Bryan Moore, David Miller, Blake Speers, Sergey Tolchinsky and defenceman Kyle Jenkins led the way with three points each for the Hounds victory.

The Hounds complete regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday.
