Early Morning Fire Leaves 4 Homeless.

An early morning fire left 4 people homeless at this residential multi-unit building on Albert St. E. in The Sault's downtown area.

In the early morning hours Wednesday, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services were called to a multi-unit residential building along Albert Street East at Blucher St. (8 Albert Street East).

The fire broke out shortly  before 6:00 a.m.

Superior Media spoke with Platoon Captain Damon Ferris, who shared that 4 people were evacuated safely from the building.

“The investigation has now been turned over to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services.” said Ferris.

“The residents are in the care of the Canadian Red Cross, who are always there for us whenever we need them. They are a tremendous community resource.”

Thank you to the Canadian Red Cross for all they do in our community. An earlier version of this story stated that the Salvation Army were involved in supporting the residents who were left homeless. It is The Canadian Red Cross who are actively supporting the 4 individuals.
