Garrison Way Will Become The New Name Of A Portion Of Ontario Avenue Soon.

On Monday night, City Council unanimously voted in favour of renaming a portion of Ontario Avenue that runs alongside The Sault Armories.

The portion of the roadway between Pine Street and Upton Rd. will be renamed Garrison Way.

The name reflects the people inside the military establishment which was built in the 1950’s. Several local military regiments use the recently upgraded facility.

The renaming was requested by the 49th Field Regiment Commanding Officer, Lance Knox and a delegation from the local armed services.

A Garrison  Parade will mark the formal change on Sept. 11, 2018.

During Council meeting, Mayor Christian Provenzano accepted a formal request to be the Honorary Reviewing Officer on September 11th, 2018.
