Oscar Award Winning Co-Writer and Co-Director of Cinema Paradiso, Vanna Paoli will visit Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, June 30th to host a screening of her film which won an Oscar in 1989.
The landmark film reflects her co-writer and co-director Giuseppe Tornatore’s experience as a teenage movie projectionist in Bagheria, Sicily. Following Cinema Paradiso Paoli directed “Lungo il fiume” (Along the River) and “La Casa Rosa” (The Pink House).
The Director’s Night event will include a pre film reception in Nonna’s Cucina at The Marconi where Vanna will meet and greet with those in attendance.
“It’s a memorable movie, something you’ll never forget. The story, the music, the cinematography; its romantic, funny and heart wrenching, all set in a small town in Italy. It’s a celebration of youth and the magic of the movies.” said Rosetta Sicoli, General Manager of The Marconi Cultural Centre.
Tickets are $15 per person including hst and gratuity and are available in advance or at the door. The pre film reception starts at 7pm to be followed by the screening.
