TORONTO — Police are searching for a male suspect after a “brazen” daylight shooting at an east Toronto playground left two young sisters injured Thursday afternoon.
Officers say the suspect opened fire at a man who was at the playground, amongst 11 children.
They say the girls, aged 5 and 9 respectively, underwent surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children and are now in stable condition.
Police say they are searching for a “vehicle of interest” in the case, described as a black, four-door 2007 to 2011 Nissan Versa sedan.
Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders said Thursday evening that he would use every available resource to ensure the suspect is found.
Saunders called the shooting a cowardly and stupid act.
