Saturday night, The Doo Wops hosted a Variety Show as part of the WTF Festival at the Bushplane Museum. This hilarious Italian-Canadian comedy duo features John Catucci and David Mesiano, who had the Sault in stitches with song and satire.
Other entertainers who performed include the show’s headliner, Letterkenny’s K. Trevor Wilson, Women Fully Clothed, featuring Robin Duke, Jayne Eastwood, Kathryn Greenwood, and Theresa Pavlinek, who capitalize on transforming the banalities of everyday life into sharply observed social satire, one of Canada’s premier comic magicians David Merry, Royal Canadian Air Farce’s celebrity-roasting Jessica Holmes, and the Sault’s very own Gina-Lola-International-Bridgida.
The greatly anticipated Variety Show sold 300 tickets, and there was abundant laughter all around as the comedians performed. From magic and costume, to highlighting social and political issues in a satirical way, to self-deprecating and racial/cultural humour, to picking on celebrities, the audience, and their loved ones, these comedians when showcased together offered something that would please all humour types!
Following the Variety Show, a Late Night Show was hosted by Darren Frost at the Canadian Night Club.
That brings the first annual WTF Festival to a close, and what a fun-filled weekend it has been. We at SaultOnline/ONNtv can’t wait to see what the team has in store for next year, and kudos to the creators Tim Murphy and Tim Progosh as well as Tourism Sault Ste. Marie for putting it all together.
