The adjacent restaurant, Park Grille, was evacuated, around 6:00 pm, and a large amount of smoke continued billowing out of the doors of the restaurant. The fire alarm was triggered inside the restaurant.

4 crews from Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded quickly to the fire scene. Superior Media spoke with Platoon Chief, Damon Ferris, who stated that the fire is under investigation.

Platoon Chief Ferris further shared that protocols where restaurants are concerned will require that Algoma Public Health Inspectors take an appraisal of conditions inside the restaurant where soot and smoke may have contaminated the contents of the restaurant.

4 employees and 2 customers from the Park Grille stood by as fire crews went through the warehouse and into the restaurant to determine cause and source.

According to by-standers, the fire, and subsequent black smoke, appeared to have originated in the wall of the warehouse.

Superior Media will update as story unfolds.
