Service Support Worker for Pauline’s Place, Ashley Gouge, came into the Superior Media Studio to share a little information on the organization’s upcoming event, Steps for Support.
One hundred per cent of funds raised will stay local at Pauline’s Place.
Join Pauline’s Place on Saturday, August 4, 2018 for a 5 km walk to support homeless youth, women, and families in Sault Ste. Marie and area. The walk begins at 10 a.m. leaving from Pauline’s Place making its way downtown, stopping at the Neighbourhood Resource Centre for a water break and ending back at Pauline’s Place for an after-walk BBQ. All funds raised stay local to support those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Steps for Support is a great event that anyone can take part in whether you’re an avid walker or just starting to get active. Walkers of all ages are welcome, leashed dogs are welcome too! Pauline’s Place hopes that this walk will give people a chance to see the struggle that homeless people in our community can face when walking is their primary transportation. A couple kilometers may not seem like a lot, but it can be a major barrier for someone who is apartment searching or trying to make it to other appointments on foot.
Register for Steps for Support online to sign up and print your pledge forms, or by calling Pauline’s Place at 705-759-4663. A minimum of $15 pledge for each walker is encouraged, and participants should plan to arrive a few minutes early to hand in their pledges before starting the walk.
