Mayor’s Race Heats Up. Sault Chamber CEO, Rory Ring files papers to enter.

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce (SSMCOC) Board of Directors has received notice from its CEO Rory Ring of his intention to file nomination papers to pursue the position of Mayor for the City of Sault Ste. Marie in the upcoming Municipal Election on October 22nd, 2018.

“Effective July 27, 2018, I have chosen to take a leave of absence from the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce to pursue the elected position of Mayor. This is a great city and a great community and I am committed to working hard to address the challenges we all face in Sault Ste. Marie.” stated Rory Ring in a media release.

“During the coming month I will be developing my platform by engaging citizens and stakeholders to listen to their needs, thoughts, vision and passion for our great city.”

Following Chamber policy and procedures, Mr. Ring will be required to take a leave of absence from his position as CEO of the Chamber effective Friday, July 27th, 2018 which shall remain in place pending the outcome of the Municipal Election.

The Board will assign a transition team to ensure that member services, accounts, stakeholder relations and all other obligations and services are fulfilled.

  1. It would have been nice to hear more about how more business will be brought into Sault Ontario. Also, I would like to hear how local services such as bussing, fire, police, ems, downtown improvements , drug addiction services, etc will be handled and improved. How will Essar taxes be collected? Many things that the present council has failed us on.

  2. Provenzano will have no problem being Mayor again. Also…he has stated this will be his LAST term in office.

  3. Nice to see some competition but it will take more than the current competitors to oust Provenzano.
