Pagnotta leads Junior Sabercats past Sturgeon


After concluding the regular season with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss, the Sault Junior Sabercats opened up playoff action on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Sarnia Sturgeon at Superior Heights.

The Sturgeon, who also concluded their regular season with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss, gave the Sabercats their only loss of the regular season back on June 3rd.

On Saturday afternoon, the Sault Junior Sabercats defeated the team that gave them their only loss during the regular season as they hammered the Sarnia Sturgeon by a score of 42-3 at Superior Heights.

Nick Pagnotta led the way offensively for the Sabercats with four touchdowns while Tristan O’Flynn and Dylan Forsyth had a touchdown each.

Zack Tremblay got Sarnia on the board with a 30 yard field goal with 5:48 to go in the second quarter.

With the win, the Sabercats have now advanced to the OFC’s West Division final, and will now face the winner of Sunday’s semifinals game between the Chatham Cougars and Brantford Bisons.
