Steelers blanked by Spartans

After having Canada Day weekend off, the Sault Steelers were back in action on Saturday as they made the trip down Highway 17 to take on the Sudbury Spartans.

The Steelers, who were hoping to get back on the winning track following a 45-0 loss to the Steel City Patriots back on June 23rd, were shutout for the second straight game on Saturday as they dropped a 35-0 decision to the Spartans at James Jerome Sports Complex.  Josh Cuomo had a pair of touchdowns runs for the Spartans while Matt Glass and Jared Loyer had a touchdown run each.

James Howatt caught a touchdown pass for the Spartans.

The Steelers, who now have a record of 2 wins and 4 losses, will return to Rocky DiPietro Field on Saturday, July 14th for a matchup against the 0-6 North Bay Bulldogs.

It will also be the Steelers final home game for their 2018 regular season.
