The Sault College Cougars men’s hockey team have announced on Tuesday that Thunder Bay, Ontario native Brad Thrower has committed to the team for the 2018-2019 season.
The 21 year old forward led the SIJHL’s Thunder Bay North Stars in goals (26) and finished third in team points (60) during the 2017-2018 regular season, before being named to the SIJHL’s First All-Star Team.
He also led the entire SIJHL in power play goals (12) during the 2017-2018 regular season.
During the 2018 postseason, the North Stars assistant captain led the team in assists (11) and finished tied for first in team points (18) with teammate Ryan Mignault.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is no stranger to the Soo though, as he played hockey with the GNML’s Soo Thunderbirds Midget AAA club during their inaugural season in 2014-2015, where he finished second in team scoring with 15 goals and 45 points in 36 regular season games, before helping the club win the GNML championship.
He also led the Thunderbird Midgets in assists (30) during the 2014-2015 season.
Following the 2014-2015 season, Thrower signed with the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds.
In 4 games played with the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds during 2015-2016, Thrower had 2 assists and 2 penalty minutes before being traded to his hometown Thunder Bay North Stars.
Thrower stands 6’0 and 175 lbs.
The 21 year old will be taking Police Foundations starting this fall at Sault College.
