From the Police Files. Bail Court was busy on Tuesday.

On August 27th, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year old Mathew L’Heureux of Chartwell Drive for robbery.

It is alleged that On August 26th, the accused engaged in an argument with a person known to him.  The accused assaulted the victim by choking her and while doing so threatened to kill her while holding a knife.  The accused used the knife to threaten a second female that was in the residence at the time and also locked both victims in a bedroom.  The accused then took various items belonging to the victim and left the scene.

Officers located the accused on August 27th, 2018 and he was taken into custody.  He has been charged with:

  • One count of robbery,
  • One count of choking,
  • 2 counts of assault,2 counts of forcible confinement, and
  • One count of assault with a weapon.

He was held for bail court.

On August 27th, 2018 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 42 year old Chad Guerin of Pilgrim Street for theft.

Just after 12:00 noon officers observed the accused checking businesses in the area of Second Line East.  Officers followed the accused into a business in the 500 block of Second Line East and observed him select just under $50.00 worth of merchandise from the shelf and then leave the store without paying.

Officers stopped the accused a short distance away and he was taken into custody.  He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property.  He was held for bail court.
