Meet Sheryl Evans-Price

My name is Sheryl Evans-Price and I am seeking Re-election as your ADSB Trustee on October 22, 2018. It has been a privilege serving my community in this capacity for the last four years. I believe that our community of Prince Township and Sault North need strong, passionate, knowledgable representation around the board table and at every level of government.

I have been living with my family in Sault North for a decade. My two children are my greatest accomplishments and my inspiration. In 2014, I ran for ADSB Trustee following the closure of Aweres Public School, my children’s school. I sat as the Accommodation Review Committee Chair and fought tirelessly with our community to keep our school from closing. I began to recognize that rural schools across the province were at risk. I wanted to do more. I knew I could do more. We chose to keep our children in a rural school to keep that unique community feel, so off they went to Mountain View Public School. And, I was successfully elected as your Trustee to sit at the Board Table.

I am a strong supporter of community schools. I am an advocate for Indigenous Education, Indigenous Language Learning and the TRC. During my time as Trustee, NSL was introduced at Mountain View Public School with great success, as well as a few other ADSB schools. I have supported the new and developing FMNI curriculum and have taken part in my own journey of Indigenous cultural learning. I am an advocate for Parent Engagement and connecting students and parents to resources that enhance their experience in our public education system. I am also a strong supporter of safe, reliable, and efficient transportation systems that get all of our students to and from the many ADSB schools that they attend. I am proud to be a part of ADSB delivering strong and diverse programming, from skills and trades to instrumental music and arts, from hockey skills to aviation, from robotics to food and hospitality, and so much more, programs for every student.

I am currently Vice-Chair of ADSB and sit on the Policy Development Work Team as the NE School Boards representative at the Ontario Public School Boards Association. Over the years, I have volunteered on the Board of Director’s at the Sault YMCA, in breakfast programs and community meal prep, as a guest judge in school level Speech competitions, as a community soccer coach and I volunteer on School Council. I have worked in healthcare for 16+ years taking a special interest in Palliative Care.

I want to inspire every person in Prince and Sault North to vote on October 22, 2018. Every Vote Matters. Vote to Re-elect a person who works for this community, a person who is passionate about public education, and a person who will positively represent you and your children’s best interests. Vote for Sheryl Evans-Price.
