Officers Seize Sawed Off Shotgun: Sault Police

On August 1st, 2018 officers with The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Drug Unit, Crime Suppression Unit and Break and Enter Unit arrested 49 year old Line Duguay of Allen’s Side Road and 29 year old Jayme McEwan of Morin Street for drug and firearm offences.

At about 4:00 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on St. Georges Avenue at North Street.  Line Duguay was identified as the driver of the vehicle and Mr. McEwan was a passenger in the front seat.  During the traffic stop officers located a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine; and a sawed off shotgun in the vehicle. The serial number on the firearm had been tampered with making it illegible.

Both individuals were taken into custody.  They have been charged with;

Possession of a controlled substance,
Careless storage of a firearm,
Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and;
Tampering with the serial number on a firearm

They will appear in court on September 10th, 2018.
