This past weekend marked the end of football season in Sault Ste. Marie as the Sault Sabercats varsity and junior varsity teams were both eliminated from postseason action.
After defeating the Brantford Bisons 33-16 in the OFC West Division semifinal back on Saturday, July 28th at Superior Heights, the Sault Sabercats varsity team were in action on Saturday, August 4th in Waterloo for the OFC West Division final.
On Saturday, the Sault Sabercats varsity team dropped a 33-8 decision to the Waterloo Predators at Warriors Field in Waterloo.
The varsity Sabercats ended the 2018 regular season with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses.
They also finished in second place in the OFC Varsity West Division standings.
The junior Sabercats, who hammered the Sarnia Sturgeon by a score of 42-3 on Saturday, July 28th at Superior Heights, were in action in Chatham on Sunday, August 5th to take on the Chatham Cougars in the OFC West Division final.
On Sunday, the junior Sabercats lost by a score of 48-1 to the Chatham Cougars at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
The junior Sabercats finished the 2018 regular season with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss.
