With the ECHL regular season set to begin in just over a month, it was announced on Tuesday that one former Soo Greyhound has signed with a new team.
Former Soo Greyhounds defenceman Tyler Ganly has signed with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings for the 2018-2019 season.
The Kalamazoo Wings are the ECHL affiliate team of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.
Ganly, who was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 6th round (156th overall) back in 2013, set career highs in goals (4), assists (8) and points (12) in 22 regular season games this past season with the ECHL’s with the Florida Everblades and Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Before turning pro, the Mississauga, Ontario native spent three seasons with the Soo Greyhounds from 2012-2015, scoring 5 times and setting up 59 others in 167 career games along with collecting 159 penalty minutes.
The 23 year old was also an assistant captain of the Hounds during the 2013-2014 & 2014-2015 seasons.
