On Saturday September 8th, take part in Birding Big Day, a friendly competition to see who can see the most bird species in one day. Participation is by donation, with all proceeds going towards a bird related conservation project in the Central Algoma area.
Many bird species are currently migrating through the area as the head back south for the winter, making this a great time of the year to see a good variety of species.
Birding can take place anytime from 7:00am to 4:00pm within the designated area, which runs from Echo Bay to Thessalon, including St. Joseph Island and all of Highway 638.
All skill levels are welcome to participate. You can register as an individual or as a team.
A potluck and results tally will follow at the TKC Conservation Centre, located at 69 Boyer Drive in Desbarats.
