After dropping a 3-1 decision on Saturday afternoon in their home opener against the Windsor Lancers, the Algoma University Thunderbirds men’s soccer team was back in action on Sunday afternoon at Superior Heights for a rematch against the same club.
The Thunderbirds record dropped to 0 wins and 4 losses on Sunday afternoon as they fell by a score of 4-2 to the Lancers.
After leading the Lancers 2-1 after the first half, the Lancers scored three unanswred goals in the second half to go on to their second strsight win.
The Lancers took a 1-0 lead 36:00 into the first, coutesy of Kyle Ruggaber’s second goal of the season.
Then, just three minutes later, it would be Kevin Picard finding the back of the net for the Thunderbirds, tying the game up at one.
Simon Babok’s second goal of the season at the 45:00 mark of the first, gave the Thunderbirds a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
Kyle Ruggaber scored his second of the game and third of the season at the 55:00 mark to tie the game up at two.
The Lancers then got a pair of goals in a span of just three minutes, courtesy of Jamar Redhead at 57:00, followed by Tanner Page at 60:00.
Thunderbirds goalkeeper Emmanuel Aigbukor made 3 saves in the loss while Sherwin Mollahassani was in goal for the Lancers win.
Algoma will now be in Guelph this Saturday to take on the Guelph Gryphons at 3:00 p.m. at Gryphon Soccer Complex.
