Men’s Thunderbirds get blanked by Mustangs


After getting blanked 3-0 against the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks one week ago at Superior Heights, the Algoma University Thunderbirds men’s soccer team was back in action yesterday afternoon in London as they took on the Western Mustangs.

The men’s Thunderbirds dropped their second straight game yesterday afternoon in London as they got blanked by a score of 6-0 to the Mustangs at Mustang Field.

The Mustangs scored three in the first half, before adding three more in the second.

Defenceman Ethan Augustin led the way offensively for the Mustangs with two goals while Mark Serjeant, Belal Halbouni, Kairav Juta and Anthony Chrysanthou all had a goal each.

Jon Hodge, Owain Evans and Christian Devia all chipped in with one assist each for the Mustangs.

Mustangs goalkeeper Kody Thomson recorded his tenth career OUA shutout while Kevin Picard made 5 saves in the loss.

The men’s Thunderbirds will conclude their two-game road series against the Mustangs this afternoon at 2:15 p.m.
