Men’s Thunderbirds get blanked for second straight game


After dropping a 2-0 decision to the Waterloo Warriors in their opening game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field in Waterloo, the Algoma University Thunderbirds men’s soccer team was back in action on Sunday afternoon for their second game of a two-game road series against the Warriors.

The Thunderbirds record dropped to 0 wins and 2 losses on the season as they were blanked for the second straight game on Sunday afternoon, losing by a score of 4-0 to the Warriors at Warrior Field.

Sebastian Guerrieri scored a pair of goals in the first half to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Nicholas Ribeiro also had a big afternoon for the Warriors, scoring once and setting up another.

Logan Wright had one goal for the Warriors while Luke Chauvineau and Samy Menendez had an assist each.

Kyle March and Matt Papadopoulos split time in net for the Warriors victory.

Thunderbirds goalkeeper Kevin Picard gave up 4 goals on 10 shots in the loss.

The Thunderbirds will have their home opener against the University Of Windsor at Superior Heights on Saturday, September 8th at 3:00 p.m.
