Men’s Thunderbirds hard time in Guelph


After dropping a 4-2 decision to the Windsor Lancers last Sunday at Superior Heights, the Algoma University Thunderbirds men’s soccer team was on the road on Saturday as they took on the Guelph Gryphons at the Guelph Soccer Complex.

The Thunderbirds gave up four goals for the second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon in Guelph as they dropped a 4-0 decision to the Gryphons.

OUA’s leading scorer Jace Kotsopoulos scored his league leading tenth goal of the season along with setting up two others for the Gryphons while Youseff Zaghloul, Johnson Amoo and Evan Dick all had a goal each.

Gryphons defenceman Toni Zlomislic also got on the scoresheet with one assist.

Kevin Picard made 4 saves in the Thunderbirds loss while Gryphons goalkeeper picked up his second consecutive shutout.

The Thunderbirds, who have now dropped to 0-5 on the season, will be back in action on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for a rematch against the Gryphons at the Guelph Soccer Complex.
