Women’s Thunderbirds battle to a tie

Sometimes in sports, a tie can seem like a win.

That was certainly the case for the Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s soccer team on Sunday afternoon as they picked up their first point in their five years of being in the OUA.

On Sunday afternoon, the women’s Thunderbirds battled to a 0-0 tie against the Windsor Lancers at Superior Heights.

Since entering the OUA back in 2014, Algoma has finished each season with a record of 0 wins and 16 losses.

Goalkeeper Lauren Gellner made 1 save for the Lancers while Rayne Tuer turned aside 9 shots while playing in goal for thr Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds, who have now imrpoved their record to 0 wins, 3 losses and first ever tie, will now get set to face the Guelph Gryhons this Saturday at Gryphon Sports Complex in Guelph.

The Gryphons are the top team in the OUA’s West Division, with a record of 4 wins, 0 losses and 2 ties.
