After getting blanked 5-0 to the Guelph Gryphons last Sunday at Gryphon Soccer Complex in Guelph, the Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s soccer team was back in action at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon at Superior Heights as they took on the 2-6 Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
The women’s Thunderbirds record dropped to 0 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie on Saturday afternoon as they got blanked by a score of 1-0 to the Golden Hawks.
Gagan Parhar’s second goal of the season at the 84:00 mark of the game, from Caroline Tepelenas, proved to be the game winner.
Golden Hawks goalkeeper Ashley Almeida recorded her fourteenth career OUA shutout while Khadyja Claxton made eleven saves for the loss.
The women’s Thunderbirds will be back in action at Superior Heights tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for a rematch against the Golden Hawks.
Tomorrow afternoon’s game will also mark the halfway point of the Thunderbirds regular season.
