After getting blanked 3-0 to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks last Sunday at Superior Heights, the Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s soccer team was in London on Saturday afternoon for a matchup against the Western Mustangs.
The women’s Thunderbirds dropped their fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon as they got blanked by a score of 8-0 to the Mustangs at Mustang Field.
The Mustangs took a 4-0 lead after the first half, before scoring another four in the second half.
Kendra Marlatt led the way offensivley for the Mustangs with two goals and two assists.
Sophie Weaver recorded a hat trick for the Mustangs while Guilia Geraci also had a three point afternoon with a goal and two assists.
Katrina Giantsopolous and Nikki Balachorek had a goal each for the Mustangs while Rachel Droulliard also got on the scoresheet with one assist.
Mustangs goalkeeper Megan Girardi recorded her 22nd career OUA shutout while Khadyja Claxton made 5 saves in the Thunderbirds loss.
The women’s Thunderbirds will conclude their two-game road series against the Mustangs tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
