Women’s Thunderbirds get blanked for second straight game

After opening up their 2018-2019 season with a 2-0 loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field in Waterloo, the Algoma Thunderbirds women’s soccer team was back in action on Sunday afternoon for game two of their two-game road series against the Waterloo Warriors.

The Thunderbirds record dropped to 0 wins and 2 losses on Sunday afternoon as they were blanked for the second straight game, losing by a score of 4-0 to the Warriors at Warrior Field.

Morgan Berg the way offensively for the Warriors, scoring twice and setting up another while Ainsleigh Sedore also had a big afternoon with a goal and an assist.

Samantha Code’s unassisted goal at the 22:00 mark of the first half, gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead heading into the second into the second half.

Madison McDonald was in net for the Warriors shutout while Thunderbirds goalkeeper Khadyja Claxton gave up 4 goals on 12 shots in the loss.

The Thunderbirds will be at Superior Heights for their home opener on Saturday, September 8th against the University Of Windsor at 1:00 p.m.
