“Koach” Katrina Francella and Cara Russon are devoted to helping people improve their physical health in Sault Ste. Marie. But their goals go beyond that. Francella, a strength trainer and Russon, a yoga instructor, have worked to create a space where mental health can be openly talked about, that is safe for LGBTQ2S+, that is uplifting, upbeat and positive.
In addition to offering classes, these women are dedicated to building a community in Sault Ste. Marie for people of all ages and abilities to come together – be it in fitness or in other social activities.
Francella and Russon have assisted each other through recovery, acting as each other’s support system through the challenges of managing their own businesses and their own struggles.
If this sounds like the place for you, the girls invite you to check it out. On October 26th from 6pm-9pm, the Klub is hosting a Halloween Party and Zombie Walk starting at her 642 Queen St. location, consisting of board games, face painting, video games, music, snacks and of course- the walk. In terms of building community, this event has been put together by four local businesses joining forces – Games Nook, MoriCon as well as Francella and Russon. It comes in conjunction with Queer Klub, which takes place every Friday evening at the Klub.
But that is not where the fun stops. On Thursday November 1st, Russon will be hosting a grand opening for Movement Medicine at her new location, the Healing Arts Centre (426 Bruce Street) from 4pm-8pm. She invites everyone to come in and see the space at that time – classes will begin the following week!
