Superior Media visited with Helena Huopalainen, Manager of Community Engagement and Sharon Wigney, Senior Reference Technician at the SSMPL on Friday afternoon to get the scoop on the 1st ever Author Palooza.
The Centennial Branch was certainly a comfortable and enervating place to be with well over 20 authors in attendance. The weather outside was not the greatest – which made it a perfect day to source out some fantastic books as we head into late fall and winter. Snuggling up with a good book is practically synonymous with northern ontario winter survival strategies.
Good books – great books – are always available at libraries around the world. Friday, however was a rather special day for books at the Centennial branch of our local library.
With the first Author Palooza ‘in the books’, SSMPL will look to 2019 to build on the success of a literary event showcasing the creative talent inspired from within the Algoma district.
Attending authors included Leslie Askwith, Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli, Dieter Buse, Robert Cuerrier, Mark Dunn, Paula Dunning, Andrea Elder-Reibmayr, Darren Emond, Ruth Fletcher, John Geary, Jeff Hinich, Valerie King, Cheryl Landmark, Marshall Lawrence, Corey Marques and AwakenINK, Sarah McComb, Tom Mills, Mary-Lynn Murphy, Marco Muzzi, Marianne Perry, Sandra Rousseau, Frank Sarlo, Gregory Saxby, and The Honourable Ray Stortini.
