The NHL Central Scouting’s October ‘Players to Watch’ list has been released today with a pair of Soo Greyhounds making it.
Forward Joe Carroll and defenceman Jacob LeGuerrier are among forty four Ontario Hockey League players to watch for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, which takes place next June in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Hounds second year forward Joe Carroll has been included as a ‘B’ rated prospect, making him a possible second or third round pick for the upcoming draft.
Carroll, who is in his second season with the Hounds, currently has 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games.
Last season, the Carp, Ontario native had 9 goals and 9 assists in 53 regular season games with the Hounds, before winning the Pino’s Award for the team’s Most Improved Player.
The 17 year old was taken by the Hounds in the 4th round (78th overall) in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.
Hounds defenceman Jacob LeGuerrier was assigned a ‘C’ rating, making him a possible fourth/fifth or sixth round pick for the upcoming draft.
In 101 career regular season games with the Hounds, the Gloucester, Ontario native has 0 goals and 17 assists.
The 17 year old scored his first two Ontario Hockey League goals in a 7-3 win against the Kitchener Rangers back on April 27th, 2018, in game 5 of the Ontario Hockey League Western Conference Final.
LeGuerrier was drafted by the Hounds in the 8th round (150th overall) in 2016.
A pair of Sooites who are currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League have also cracked the NHL Central Scouting’s October ‘Players to Watch’ list, including Nicholas Porco (Saginaw Spirit) and Keegan Stevenson (Guelph Storm).
Porco and Stevenson were both assigned a ‘C’ rating.
