Saultite Kelsey Dugas saw a gap in services available for supporting and assisting youth, primarily in the LGBTQ community, and wanted to rectify that.
So in January 2018, she opened her own counselling business with the help of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation.
She believes that the work she is doing can not only improve the lives of youth in the Algoma District, but also reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues.

Good for you, Kelsey. Sounds like you’re doing some amazing work and really offering something that needs to be available. I’ve had several LGBTQ+ friends tell me what a hostile environment they feel this city can be. So great to see you be there for people who need it.
Sault Online, thank you for doing this interview. More awareness and less ignorance is something that is desperately necessary.
Thank you CJ!
