Fomer Hounds defenceman gets traded to Battalion


He was currently in his overage season with the Sarnia Sting, but now he’s heading back up north.

Former Hounds defenceman Theo Calvas has been traded from the Sarnia Sting to the North Bay Battalion in exchange for North Bay’s 5th round pick in 2020 and Sarnia’s 6th round pick in 2022.

The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native had 1 assist 4 games played with the Sting this season.

Last season with the Sting, Calvas set career highs in goals (3), assits (20) points (23), penalty minutes (103) and games played (68).

His 103 penalty minutes last season, was the most among Sting players.

Calvas, who was drafted by the Hounds in the 14th round (201st overall) back in 2015, had 2 assists in 54 games played with the Hounds.

The Hounds dealt the 20 year old to the Sarnia Sting back on January 10th, 2017, in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2018 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

The Battalion will be the third team Calvas will suit up for in his Ontario Hockey League career.
