(WAWA, ON) -The Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising the public that highway 17 is now open to one lane from Wawa, Ontario to Batchawana.
Highway 101 from Wawa to Chapleau is also open to one lane.
The OPP are requesting that the public remain away from this area. This will allow crews to work as quickly and as safely as possible. The O.P.P. will distribute details and updates of the road advisory as information becomes available.
Please do not call O.P.P. Provincial Communication Centres for road advisory updates or road condition information.

Highway 101 from Wawa to Chapleau will also be closed due to a road washout, causing both lanes of travel to be closed.

511 Ontario Travel Information has reported that Highway 17 is closed in both directions south of Wawa to Batchawana Bay due to a road washout near Old Woman Bay.

Flooding on HWY 17 in both directions between PINEWOOD DR, WAWA and SEC HWY 563-BATCHAWANA has necessitated the highway closure. All lanes closed are closed at this hour.
Rain continues to be heavy north of the city and driving is treacherous.
Hwy 129 is also closed between the Jct of 101/129 (Chapleau highway) and Thessalon due to a sink hole. Highway 129 is closed south of Chapleau from highway 667 Sultan Road to Highway 17 in Thessalon.
Emergency Roadwork on HWY 129 continues in both Directions at HINCKLER RD-LANE TWP (E). All lanes closed.
