Members of the Jewish community in Sault Ste. Marie will hold a vigil this Thursday November 1, to remember the victims of the mass shooting in Pittsburgh, PA.

Eight men and three women were killed Saturday when a man opened fire inside the Tree of Life Synagogue during worship services. Several others were injured, including four police officers.

The vigil will take place at Beth Jacob Synagogue in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, at 7:00 pm. Security will be present.

“We are shaken and heartbroken. We will mourn together. And we are united with our neighbors and our community as we take a stand against hate.” said Ginny Cymbalist, President of Beth Jacob Synagogue. “Through our shared bonds of community, we will create a better world.”

Members of the public are invited to attend, to stand together as allies and supporters with the Jewish community, as we collectively mourn the victims of this terrible act:

Melvin Wax, Irving Younger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil and David Rosenthal, Rose Mallinger, Bernice and Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Joyce Fienberg, and Richard Gottfried.

May peace be upon them, and may their memories be for a blessing.

  1. Attn: Ginny Cymbalist, President of Beth Jacob Synagogue.

You do realize that access to Beth Jacob Temple is virtually impossible do to the closer of Bruce St, Wellington, and Albert streets right?
I wish you luck because I do support your cause and that of the Jewish people, but if not many show up..I think that this will be the reason and not lack of support.

    Best Wishes and my prayers.

  2. Well now, if you were *really*, *really* passionate about this position, you would have organized such a vigil a long time ago, troll. Shame on you.

  3. If we held a vigil for Palestinians who are being victims of a genocide by the state of Israel, would anyone come?
