On October 11th, 2018, officers with the Break and Enter Unit, Drug Unit and Crime Suppression Unit of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service completed an investigation in partnership with officers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). As a result, 41-year-old Ryan Rouse of Grandy Road was arrested for possession of and importing a prohibited weapon.
It is alleged that, in September of 2018 the accused ordered a Blast Knuckles Stun Gun from the United States and attempted to have the item shipped into Canada. The item was intercepted by CBSA Officers at the International Mail Centre in Toronto and a controlled delivery was executed by officers with The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on October 11th. The accused was arrested after retrieving the package from a depot in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.
The accused was taken into custody at that time and the item was seized. The accused has been charged with:
- One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon,
- One count of importing a prohibited weapon, and;
- Two counts possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a court order.
He will appear in court on November 19th, 2018.
