Sault Theatre Workshop (STW) is proudly showing the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama “The Gin Game” by D.L. Coburn.
The play is about Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey who meet on the porch of their nursing home and strike up a friendship, with Weller teaching Fonsia how to play gin rummy. But when Fonsia wins every hand, Weller becomes increasingly frustrated, until their gin games and conversations become a battleground, with each player exposing the other’s failures, disappointments and insecurities.
The Gin Game is a not-to-be-missed theatrical event that examines the plight of the elderly and how each character seems trapped by the hands they have been dealt.
STW is thrilled to have George Houston directing his father Edward Houston in a intense performance of D.L. Coburn classic.
The Gin Game runs Wednesday October24th till Saturday October 27th at 8pm. There is a matinee performance Sunday October 28th at 2pm. All performances take place at the
Sault Theatre Workshop Studio Theatre at 121 Pittsburgh Ave.
